Parents are welcome to arrive on campus at 1:30 PM.

1:30 PM - Parent’s Weekend Welcome by CAPT Black in the Wicker Chapel

• • The Academy President CAPT Mark Black will officially open Parent's Weekend with prayer and encouragement at 1:30 PM in the Wicker Chapel. 

2:00-3:30 PM - Multiple Events taking place on campus

• • Parent/Teacher Conferences: Faculty and coaches will be available to privately meet with parents in their classrooms by appointment only. Please email the teacher directly to schedule your appointment. Teachers will start accepting email appointments two weeks before Parent's Weekend. 
  • Afternoon Tea in the Library - Hosted by Mrs. Kim Black and the Parent's Association: Families can enjoy refreshments in the library and have the opportunity to learn more about the Parent's Association and meet other families on campus.

3:30-4:15 PM - Planning for Your Future & Tailoring Your Purpose in the Wicker Chapel

• • This seminar by the College Placement & Academic Services Department explains the college application process and explores all options for your cadet after graduation. It is geared toward Upper School parents, but all are welcome!

3:30-4:15 PM - Middle School Orientation in the Library

• • This orientation by members of the faculty explains the middle school process at Fork Union Military Academy and the incorporation of the One-Subject Plan. It is geared towards Middle School parents only. 

4:30-6:00 PM - Dinner in the Estes Dining Hall

• • Families can enjoy free time and dinner with their cadets on campus from 4:30-6:00 PM in the dining hall. If parents sign up for the Parents Association, they will receive two free meal tickets, otherwise the dinner will cost $10 per person. Cadets and children under 5-years old are free of charge.
  •  Cadets will return to Jacobson Hall at 6:00 PM to prepare for Retreat and company competitions. 
  • Families are encouraged to depart campus after dinner and prior to Retreat.

Parents are welcome to arrive on campus at 9:00 AM.

9:00-11:00 AM - Open House

• • Families are invited to meet and mingle with teachers, advisors, and staff in the Estes Dining Hall. There will be booths to visit, including Jostens, who provides class rings and graduation products, Woodworking Club, and Interact Club.
  • Continental Brunch will be served for all during the Open House.
  • Families will also have a family photo opportunity with our campus photographer, Kristin Firewicz Studios.

11:30 AM - First Call for Parade

• • The first parade of the academic year will be on the Stadium Field. Cadets will form up on Fraley Circle starting at 11:30 AM.
  • Following the parade, cadets will be eligible to depart campus with their families until Monday, October 21. All cadets need to return to campus by 7:00 PM on Monday.
