Fork Union Military Academy proudly hosted the second annual Virginia Military School Drill Competition for the first time this past Saturday, March 1. The competition brought together six of Virginia’s esteemed military schools, including Benedictine College Prep, Randolph-Macon Academy, Hargrave Military Academy, Fishburne Military School, and Harrisonburg's Junior ROTC. Fork Union showcased its exceptional drill skills and teamwork, securing an impressive third-place finish overall.
Twenty dedicated cadets from Fork Union’s Retan Rifles represented the Academy in eight individual and team events. Over the past month, they committed to rigorous training, refining their drill routines and movements with discipline and precision in preparation for the competition. Their dedication paid off with six podium finishes, including four first-place victories:
The event was a thrilling showcase of discipline, skill, and camaraderie, highlighting the dedication of cadets across Virginia's military schools.
Commandant of Cadets GySgt Charlie Coulter praised the cadets' performance, stating, “I couldn’t be prouder of our cadets for their dedication and effort in this competition. They represented Fork Union with honor and discipline, showcasing the excellence of our Corps of Cadets. Hosting this event was a privilege, and I look forward to welcoming these outstanding teams back next year for another great competition.”
After a successful and competitive event, Fork Union Military Academy looks forward to hosting the competition again next year, continuing to uphold the tradition of excellence in drill and discipline.
