CANTON, OH – Fork Union Military Academy proudly announces that alumnus and longtime coach and administrator Micky Sullivan has been selected for induction into the prestigious National High School Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 Class. The induction ceremony will take place on June 14, 2025, at the Zimmermann Symphony Center/Umstattd Hall in Canton, Ohio. Tickets for the event are available for $25.

Sullivan, a 1967 graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, has left an indelible mark on the world of high school athletics. Following his postgraduate year at Fork Union, Sullivan attended East Tennessee State University on a football scholarship. As a junior, he helped lead ETSU to an undefeated season and victory in the 1969 Grantland Rice Bowl.

In 1975, Sullivan returned to Fork Union Military Academy, beginning a legendary coaching and administrative career that spanned over four decades. Serving in roles ranging from head prep football coach to Director of Athletics, Sullivan achieved unparalleled success, including: nine VISAA Coach of the Year awards, eight VISAA State Championships, and a career football coaching record of 200-118-3.

Sullivan’s influence extended beyond Fork Union, as he coached notable players such as Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George – inducted in the National High School Football Hall of Fame in 2024 – and Heisman finalist Chris Perry, both of whom became NFL first-round draft picks. Sullivan also played a pivotal role in founding the Virginia Independent School Football Association, leaving a legacy on Virginia high school athletics.

Sullivan's contributions have earned him induction into both the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Hall of Fame (2017) and the Fork Union Military Academy Hall of Fame (2022). Despite these accolades, Sullivan remains most proud of his family, crediting his wife Kathy for raising three daughters who are now successful wives, mothers, and professionals.

The 2025 National High School Football Hall of Fame Class includes 33 inductees, such as Ray Lewis, Warren Moon, Michael Vick, and Steve Atwater, alongside Sullivan’s name. This recognition places him among the most celebrated figures in high school football history.
