I celebrate Christmas because it commemorates the birth of my Savior, Jesus. With a student body as diverse as Fork Union Military Academy’s, however, I know we have cadets and families who come from other backgrounds and beliefs. The end of the year is packed with religious holidays like Christmas and Hannukah, cultural remembrances like Kwanzaa, secular (and commercial) celebrations of the Santa Claus tradition, and even a changing of the seasons at Winter Solstice.
The Corps of Cadets has worked so hard this school year and has accomplished so much already in the classroom, in athletic competition, and in the individual development of their character, discipline, respect, integrity, and faith. I pray that all may take this opportunity to get some rest, to relax, and recharge their body, mind, and spirit to be ready for the challenges and opportunities we will face in the new year.
The Christmas season is a time for renewal.

Cadets, I am proud of you. Remember what you have learned, and keep what you have earned. I am praying for each one of you, by name, that this Christmas season will be a time of blessing for you and your family.
