Should you have any questions, please reach out to the Admission Office at 434-842-4205 or admissions@fuma.org.
We are here to help! On Monday, the Communications Department will release a special pre-recorded video session featuring our Director of Enrollment, Mrs. Montero-Sharpe, and Commandant of Cadets GySgt Coulter. They will provide an overview of what to expect during the check-in process and answer frequently asked questions from parents.
If you have any specific questions you'd like addressed in the video, please reply to this email by Sunday. We want to ensure you have all the information you need for a smooth start to the year!
The Academic Department is in the process of finalizing class schedules for the upcoming year. Once the schedules are generated through Power School, we will promptly share them with the cadets and families. Please note that during this time, access to Power School will be limited.
We anticipate releasing the schedules by August 23, but if they process is completed earlier, we will notify you right away. Thank you for your understanding and patience. We look forward to welcoming the cadets back to campus soon!
Please follow the diagram below on where to go for all check-in dates. Wednesday, August 14 is Fork Union's first check-in. Please enter campus and park in the grass lot between Jacobson Hall and Route 15. Parking attendants and coaches will be there to greet you.
Families will be directed to the Estes Dining Hall for their first stop, then to the Quartermaster and will end at Jacobson Hall.
Additional Tips:
We have implemented new guidelines to the Academy's Transportation Services Policy to ensure the safety of our cadets, especially those traveling as unaccompanied minors. We distributed the new policy this past week. Please click the link below to view all the guidelines to what Fork Union Military Academy can offer.
Fork Union Military Academy's Infirmary is requiring all students to arrive on campus with a completed Sway Concussion Test. The Sway Concussion Test is a test that can be done remotely through a Mobile App. We are using Sway Medical to objectively measure balance and cognition during the check-in process. To expedite this process, we ask all families to arrive with the app already installed on a device for the student to use.
Please click here for the Sway Instructions.
If your son is enrolled in Summer School, he does not need to do the Sway Concession Test again.
Fork Union Military Academy's Infirmary uses SchoolDoc to manage the required annual health forms. Please make sure you have completed your health profile before arriving to campus. We will not be accepting paper forms at check-in.
Please note that the nurses will be reviewing all health forms when you arrive on campus to check-in. Any incomplete forms, especially those that require a healthcare provider signature, may delay the check-in process. Parents will be responsible for completing these items before they can leave their cadet on campus.
For all school and health related questions, please contact the Infirmary at 434-842-4310 or infirmary@fuma.org.
Ensuring we have this information now will better help our scheduling team set your son's academic schedule for the upcoming year. We cannot update our transcript information or finalize scheduling without an official transcript.
The following documents are not acceptable official transcripts:
Please make sure the official transcript is signed, sealed, and has all complete information (grades and credits earned). The official document needs to come directly from the school your son attended last year.
If you have any questions regarding the transcript or need any further assistance, please contact our Admissions Office at 434-842-4205 or admissions@fuma.org.
Should you have any questions regarding your son’s class options and graduation plan, please contact their respective academic scheduler:
Fork Union Military Academy would like to request for your son to arrive on campus clean shaven and with a proper haircut. The regulation haircut for Fork Union Military Academy is:
Hair will be neat and closely trimmed. Hair will be kept 1 inch or less on top. The sides will be tapered/faded all the way around the head. No block lines and no temple tapers are allowed. Hard parts are not authorized.
If your son is unable to receive a haircut prior to check-in, we will arrange for him to see our barber on campus.

If you are a returning cadet, the Packing List for the "Returning Cadets--Quartermaster-Issued Uniform Items" includes all items received from the Quartermaster the year before.
Your cadet will have a telephone in his room that he can use to stay connected with friends and family. He will need to purchase a calling card to dial out. We recommend purchasing this card or something similar.
We also encourage parents to leave their cadets with plenty of snacks (granola bars, Gatorade, water bottles, etc.).
As we enter our third year of compulsory athletics, we ask that you fill out the Athletic Sign-Up Form which is in your Enrollment Checklist on SchoolAdmin. The offerings for this fall are football, soccer, and cross country for 7th through 12th grade cadets.
