Parents Day begins on Friday, October 18 where Fork Union Military Academy welcomes parents to campus for a fun day of activities. Below is the schedule for Friday:

Parents are welcome to arrive on campus at 1:30 PM.

1:30 PM - Parent’s Weekend Welcome by CAPT Black in the Wicker Chapel

  • The Academy President CAPT Mark Black will officially open Parents Weekend with prayer and encouragement at 1:30 PM in the Wicker Chapel. 

2:00-3:30 PM - Multiple Events taking place on campus

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences: Faculty and coaches will be available to privately meet with parents in their classrooms by appointment only. Please email the teacher directly to schedule your appointment. Teachers will start accepting email appointments two weeks before Parents Weekend. 
  • Afternoon Tea in the Library - Hosted by Mrs. Kim Black and the Parent's Association: Families can enjoy refreshments in the library and have the opportunity to learn more about the Parent's Association and meet other families on campus.

3:30-4:15 PM - Planning for Your Future & Tailoring Your Purpose in the Wicker Chapel

  • This seminar by the College Placement & Academic Services Department explains the college application process and explores all options for your cadet after graduation. It is geared toward Upper School parents, but all are welcome!

3:30-4:15 PM - Middle School Orientation in the Library

  • This orientation by members of the faculty explains the middle school process at Fork Union Military Academy and the incorporation of the One-Subject Plan. It is geared towards Middle School parents only. 

4:30-6:00 PM - Dinner in the Estes Dining Hall

  • Families can enjoy free time and dinner with their cadets on campus from 4:30-6:00 PM in the dining hall. If parents sign up for the Parents Association, they will receive two free meal tickets, otherwise the dinner will cost $10 per person. Cadets and children under 5-years old are free of charge.
  • Families will also have a family photo opportunity with our campus photographer, Kristin Firewicz Studios.
  •  Cadets will return to Jacobson Hall at 6:00 PM to prepare for Retreat.
  • Families are encouraged to depart campus following Retreat.
